BRAVE

BRAVE is an innovative youth development social justice agency working with BIPOC scholars; BRAVE was established in 2011. However, we became a 501c3 in 2017. The Trailblazers program was established in 2018.

We equip youth and families of color with core competencies as they navigate institutional oppression and reshape their communities into spaces that provide equitable opportunities. Our programs introduce youth to social justice awareness while cultivating a positive cultural self-identity with a commitment to strengthening their communities.

Our mission is to collaborate with BIPOC youth in their learning and development journey-- providing experiences and resources for critical thinking, exploring their voice, deepening brilliance, contributing to the health and renewal of their communities, and reshaping systems. We envision BIPOC youth developing courageous and vibrant lives of purpose, building their leadership abilities, and contributing to their strength to make a difference in their communities. 

Our educational programs are at the core of our mission and vision. Our programs are designed for deprogramming and repurposing. Our curriculum, trips, activities, and co-learning spaces deprogram the mind from internalized racism and practices developed in whiteness. 

Deprogramming provides opportunities for local Blacks and POC to repurpose their true journey in life. Our programming promotes a life of purpose for local Blacks and POC. The program curriculum is designed for the Black child and caregiver to prosper in a society that devalues them and their contributions.

We serve 9-18 year old Black and Brown youth and their families. BRAVE youth and families are ethnically diverse.
